About Cinemak

Cinemak is a movie app made by one person in Zagreb, between a day job and too many late-night films.

The idea

Nobody ever called a film a 7. We say it was a gem, or fine for a lazy Sunday, or that it almost got there. Cinemak rates films that way, in six tiers, and uses what you say to find what you'll like next. The more you rate, the sharper it gets. It keeps a few surprises in the mix, and it never decides who you are.

What it stands for

• Films first. No streaks, no badges, nothing built to keep you scrolling.
• Surprise on purpose. Not just more of what you already watched.
• Your taste is yours. See what the app thinks, change it, take your data with you.
• Modest money. A few sponsored cards for free users; Premium removes them and adds some extras. Your data is never for sale.

Where it's at

In development, not yet in the stores. A private beta comes first, then the launch on iPhone and Android. Film data comes from TMDB.
